OPEC questions IEA's forecast on demand cut for fossil fuels by 2030
MOSCOW, Sep 14 (PRIME) -- OPEC does not agree with the forecast of the head of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Fatih Birol, according to which the demand for fossil fuels will reach a peak and move to a decline by 2030, the organization said in a statement on Thursday.
Birol wrote in his Financial Times column earlier in the week about the future of fossil fuels predicting the start of the decline in demand by 2030 as climate policies take effect. The peak and further decline in fossil fuel production will be driven by the rise of clean energy, Birol said.
